The History of James Evans Well Drilling

James Evans Well Drilling was founded in 1965 by James B. Evans II.  It is a family owned and operated business that, since its founding, has been passed from father to son for 3 generations.  The Evans family has strong roots in the local communities and they take pride in serving their neighbors.

About James B. Evans II

James B. Evans II was born in Groveland, FL on March 13, 1916.  His family moved to Barberville, FL in 1918 where his grandfather was in the sawmill business.  The family then moved to Lake Helen in 1924, where his father worked until 1927 when the Lake Helen Saw Mill closed down.  During this time James Evans II graduated the 6th grade.  After the Saw Mill closed, the family had to move back to Barberville for work.  The family remained in Barberville where James II graduated from the 8th grade before going to work as a carpenter.  James II worked as a carpenter until he joined the service during WWII and served in Germany.  After the war, James II returned to Barberville and continued his carpentry work.

From Carpentry and Contracting to Well Drilling and Water Treatment

When Florida began requiring contractor licenses, James II applied and became the 11th licensed contractor in the State of Florida. He began building houses in Volusia County and eventually, in 1955, he bought a well drilling machine to drill the wells for the houses he was building.  His son, James Evans III, began helping him after school and on the weekends.  Then, in 1965, they founded James Evans Well Drilling and the company has been in business since then.  Today, James Evans Well Drilling is run by James III and his sons James Evans IV & Justin Evans.  James IV and Justin both began working in the business when they were 12 years old.

You can count on our family to take care of your water needs, from drilling the well to delivering treated water to your home, as we have for the past 70-years.  We install new wells, pumps, tanks and water treatment equipment.  We are dedicated to providing quality service and plan to continue serving Volusia County, and surrounding counties, for the foreseeable future.
